Running a business takes 100% of your dedication, concentration, and time. We know this, because we’re running a business, too. The big difference? Your business isn’t all about packing, loading, and hauling – but ours is.

Whether you’re a tech startup, a brick-and-mortar boutique, or somewhere in between, you’ve got a million things to balance before throwing a big move into the mix. Let us handle the logistics, and you can focus on the day-to-day.

Packing Services

Were you planning on doing your own packing? When? On the weekend, when you’d rather be – I dunno, doing literally anything else? Or during the week, after work, when you’d rather be – I dunno, also doing literally anything else?

Packing is a pain. That’s why we offer packing services, and that’s why people take us up on the offer.

Our teams will show up with all the materials, supplies, and expertise, and all you have to do is sit back and relax.

That pool table? Keep it in storage until you clear out your game room. Book with us, and get even more flexibility.

How Much Does it Cost to Hire Long Distance Movers in Vancouver?

Long-distance movers in Vancouver will cost you anywhere between $1,500 and $18,000+, but we’ve seen the odd move that was cheaper or more expensive. Why such a widespread? It all comes down to how much stuff you have, and how far you need to travel.

Long-distance movers calculate the price of your move by looking at the route and assigning a weight or volume value to all of your belongings. If you’re moving a studio apartment from Vancouver to Spokane, you’ll be paying a lot less than someone moving a 5-bedroom home all the way to Miami.

You may need some extra services that’ll cost you some extra money, but the size and distance are the biggest factors behind your final price. For a more exact estimate, take a look at this table, and see if you can spot your move:

Distance1 Bedroom2 – 3 Bedroom4 – 5 Bedroom
100 miles$1,500 – $2,500$2,500 – $4,500$4,500 – $6,000
250 miles$2,000 – $3,000$3,500 – $5,500$5,500 – $8,000
1000 miles+$3,500 – $5,500$6,000 – $8,500$8,500 – $12,000
2500 miles+$5,000 – $7,500$8,500 – $12,500$12,000 – $18,000

Vancouver Long Distance Moving FAQs

When you’re looking at your moving quote, the physical size and the miles traveled are the biggest factors behind your final price. But there are a few other add-ons and extras to keep in mind, too:

  • Packing: Doing your own packing is an exercise in masochism, and not in a fun way. Instead, you can pay between a couple hundred and a couple thousand and let the movers take care of the whole process. It’s also usually a prerequisite for better insurance…
  • Insurance: There’s basic coverage, and there’s full value coverage. Basic coverage is free, but it’s only good for $0.60 per pound of damaged items. If you want to get the full price for your items, you’ll have to pay for full-value insurance (and packing, too).
  • Specialty items: Artwork, pianos, pool tables, sectionals – pretty much anything that’s bulky, expensive, fragile, or all of the above. These will need special TLC (and possibly even special moving equipment and supplies). It’s definitely worth the money.
  • Access fees: Here’s a fun activity: Walk to the street, and take notes of all the steps you have to take. Do you need to deal with a gate, an elevator, or an especially long driveway? These are all obstacles your movers will have to deal with, and it’ll cost you.
  • Shuttles: Your movers will use a big rig for the long haul, but most cities don’t take kindly to these trucks crowding their streets. Instead, your movers will have to park in a staging area and use a smaller shuttle truck for the final leg of the trip. Thanks, City Hall.

In the moving industry, a long-distance move is anything that’s over 100 miles or across state lines. Anything under 100 miles and within the same state, and you’re looking at a local move instead.

Long-distance movers charge per mile and per pound (or cubic feet). Local movers charge per hour, and per mover (and it’s usually about two movers per bedroom).

Want to save as much as possible? Get rid of all your old, unused, or unwanted items before you shop around for a moving quote. If you don’t want it, don’t take it with you – and definitely don’t let it count towards your final weight! Sell it, donate it, hand it down, whatever. Just get rid of it so you don’t pay for it later.

Oh, and aside from downsizing, it’s a good idea to do a little bit of research when you’re picking your moving date. June, July, and August are the most expensive months to move, followed by major holidays and the first and last days of every month. Avoid those dates, and you’ll save some cash.

We’re always growing and expanding! Aside from Vancouver, Out of State Moving Companies operates all over the United States. We’ve got plenty of routes in Florida and throughout the South, and we’ve got a pretty big presence in California. Anywhere in between those two states, and you’re likely to find one of our routes.

We try to be as transparent as humanly possible when we put together our moving quotes. Everything from your packing to access fees will be included. Other movers may keep these fees hidden until the last moment, but that’s not really our game.

If you’re looking for a personalized moving quote, you’re in the right place. At Out of State Moving Companies, we made it super easy to get a custom estimate: Just tell us more about your move, and we’ll send you a detailed quote based on your inventory of belongings, the services you need, and the distance you have to travel.

We recommend hiring your movers 2 to 3 months in advance. This will give you plenty of wiggle room to pack, finish your paperwork, and (of course) procrastinate. Time flies once you’ve scheduled the big day, so you’ll be grateful for all those extra weekends.

Your long-distance move can take anywhere from 1 to 21 days. Under federal law, drivers aren’t allowed to clock more than 400 miles of interstate travel per day. But aside from the rules and regulations, you’ll also need to think about bundling.

Let’s say you’ve got a studio or a 1-bedroom apartment. Unless you’re the Collyer brothers, your belongings won’t fill up an entire semi-trailer. But since your movers will be spending the gas to get you there anyway, they’ll want to make the most out of the route. This means they’ll bundle multiple moves in the same trailer for greater efficiency.

(Don’t worry, everything will be kept safe and separated. But there’ll be a delay or two for pickups and deliveries along the way!)
